Where is the line between personal responsibility and external influences? It's hard to say, and every case is unique. I was raised to take personal responsibility for my own fate, but I certainly have been affected by outside forces seemingly beyond my control. It's an important issue, especially with health care on the President's agenda. The scales can easily tip too far either way if we're not careful. Serious thought is required here.
